digital arts

I've always enjoyed the aesthetic of lowbrow art. mixing cartooning, common subject matter mixed with the ugly and bizarre and yet somehow visually appealing and composed.

Of all the areas of your body, your head and face are really where your essence lives. It is the most intimate and personal part of you. The naive simplicity of this head is shielded from the encroachment of nature. Since nature includes everything, the symbolism is that of being cornered by the pressures of reality. The arms have grown grim and mature from the struggle to create a sanctuary for the pure self.
Sometimes doodling can lead to something neat, even if it's not the best art ever. If you just commit to the patterns and form, a cool figure might appear.
I like lots of little details in the line work. I would like to perfect my form and structure, but for now I always enjoy putting a lot of work into the little notches and seeing them accumulate into some wretchedly splendid texture, like the skin under this beast's neck.
dont know why i dedicated so much time to this baxter stockman peice. i dont even like this character. I mean, he has a cool design and all, but he's not particularly special to me. I was mostly working on the lettering.
