digital arts

I've always enjoyed the aesthetic of lowbrow art. mixing cartooning, common subject matter mixed with the ugly and bizarre and yet somehow visually appealing and composed.

Of all the areas of your body, your head and face are really where your essence lives. It is the most intimate and personal part of you. The naive simplicity of this head is shielded from the encroachment of nature. Since nature includes everything, the symbolism is that of being cornered by the pressures of reality. The arms have grown grim and mature from the struggle to create a sanctuary for the pure self.
Sometimes doodling can lead to something neat, even if it's not the best art ever. If you just commit to the patterns and form, a cool figure might appear.
I like lots of little details in the line work. I would like to perfect my form and structure, but for now I always enjoy putting a lot of work into the little notches and seeing them accumulate into some wretchedly splendid texture, like the skin under this beast's neck.
dont know why i dedicated so much time to this baxter stockman peice. i dont even like this character. I mean, he has a cool design and all, but he's not particularly special to me. I was mostly working on the lettering.

clockwork elf and so much more

I don't know too much about the alleged clockwork elves but what i have heard seems fascinating. The Joe Rogan DMT crowd thinks they're benevolent and Alex Jones claims they're wicked demons. Maybe I'll have a trip and meet them some day. This illustration is obviously a more sinister portrayal. A salivating, evil looking elf surrounded by floating scrap that represents the physical material of our world. He looks onto an atom with salivating glee. I don't know what he's thinking or planning which speaks to the mystery of these purported beings.
I seriously love Little Shop of Horrors. The ambiguous element we call "movie magic" is very much alive in this film. It has almost every genre mixed into one without messing up the tone or composition. Drama, comedy, horror, romance, action along with compelling, relatable characters and set pieces and of course some of the most captivating puppetry and practical effects. On top of that it's also a retro time piece set in the 60's. Can't recommend it enough.
I was bad at skateboarding. When it was the thing to do, I was happy enough with myself having learned how to cruise around. Never graduated to doing big tricks and after i busted my lip and got stitches trying to nose-slide on a bench, I had to be honest with my self and just admit that the personal self injury wasn't worth the effort.
I was reading about skinheads on Wikipedia when i drew this. I don't know why, just curious i guess. Subcultures are weird places. I've tried to get into them before but I don't think I'll be anything but an outside observer.
